The Department of Developmental, Personality and Social Psychology (VOPSpsy) is a multidisciplinary department responsible for teaching, research and psychological service in the fields of Developmental Psychology, Clinical Developmental Psychology, Personality Psychology and Social Psychology.
Besides an important contribution to the education of students at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, the department also offers courses for secondary teacher training as well as for students at the faculties of Arts, Law, Political and Social Sciences.
The research is directed at the synergy between fundamental and applied research and is targeted at normal and clinical populations of varying ages. Prototypical for our research policy is research on motivational processes, education and socialisation; clinical research on obesity and eating disorders; research on personality, temperament and the development of maladaptive traits; and social psychological research on decision making, procedural justice, prejudice and political attitudes. Our research applies various research methods such as self-report questionnaires, longitudinal designs, experiments and multiple informants
Allied to the department is Kind en Adolescent, a University based Psychological Service Centre that develops and evaluates therapeutic programs for children and adolescents. Children, youngsters and their parents can call upon this centre for psychological consultation and various forms of treatment. |
